My services

Business portrait photography for companies

I work mainly for companies: I take portraits of CEOs, executives and staff, individually or of a whole team in a consistent series.

People form a first impression of an unfamiliar face within a tenth of a second, for example of how trustworthy and competent someone seems; this was measured by researchers at Princeton University.

That is why, in corporate portrait photography, I pay close attention to everyone appearing confident and with a natural expression, and to the portrait fitting in with the company’s other materials.

Executives and CEOs

A CEO’s portrait goes into press releases, onto the company website and into professional publications. Many people meet them first through this photo, so it has to inspire trust at first glance.I tailor the photo to its use: an interview calls for a different crop than the leadership page of a website.

Staff

Staff portraits appear on the company website, in internal communications and on ID badges, so consistency matters most here.Everyone is photographed with the same background, lighting and crop, so the team as a whole gives a well-organised impression of the company.

Private clients

I also take business portraits for private clients, for example for a LinkedIn profile, a CV, or the website of a doctor, lawyer or consultant. Here the style can be freer too: understated for a CV, more relaxed for the about page of your own website.

My work

Corporate portrait photography: a selection of my work

In every portrait I look for a natural expression, whether the photo is taken against a dark or light background or next to the glass wall of an office building.

The selection shows business portraits of executives and staff; the dark and light backgrounds and the outdoor setting each create a different mood.

If you are not sure which suits your company’s brand better, I am happy to help you choose.

Besides photography, I also work as a graphic designer, creating visual materials for companies, so I match the background, colours and crop to your brand from the start, and I do the post-production myself.

Consistent portraits

How do all the corporate portraits end up consistent?

At the start of the shoot I set up the background, the lighting and the crop once, and then everyone is photographed with the same setup, one after the other, following the schedule agreed in advance.

The result is a consistent series in which the photos match even when placed side by side on the website.

In my view, the most distracting thing is when the staff photos on a company website were all taken differently: one with a phone, another at a professional photographer’s, against different backgrounds, in different light, with different crops, and everyone dressed in a different style, because then the company looks disorganised, however good the website itself is.

If someone is not available on the day of the shoot, or a new colleague joins later, I also do follow-up shoots with the same background and lighting, so the new portrait fits into the series.

You choose the location of the shoot: we can work in your office, in a rented studio or outdoors, wherever the light is right.

If an office has too little space or light, I will tell you in advance and suggest another room or a rented studio; the decision is still yours.

How I work

How does a business portrait shoot work?

You tell me where and when we should shoot and who needs a portrait; setting up the background and lighting, the shoot itself and the retouching are my job.

I choose my equipment for the location, because a meeting room needs different lighting from a studio or an outdoor location; I can usually look at the location in advance.

Everyone chooses their own portrait: if you wish, I hand over all the raw photos, the company shares them internally, and everyone marks which of their photos I should retouch.

They can even decide during the shoot which one they like best.

01

Request a quote

Just tell me the number of people, the location, what the photos are for, and roughly how many retouched portraits you would like per person. From that I will put together a quote.

02

Arrangements

The location, the date and the number of photos go into the contract, and we plan the schedule so that the shoot disrupts the working day as little as possible.

03

On the day

I set up the lighting and, if needed, the background; staff arrive one after the other. I usually take 4–5 photos of each person, so there is a choice.

04

Selection and delivery

I send everyone their raw photos and retouch the selected ones. I usually deliver the finished portraits online within 3–5 days of the selection.

About me

Sándor Szabó, business portrait photographer

Many people feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, which is perfectly natural, as most people rarely pose for photos.

I like chatting with the person I am photographing, and after a joke or two it is much easier to let go of a stiff pose; in my view, this shows most in a portrait, because retouching cannot replace a natural expression.

I also photograph corporate events, so if your company needs a photographer for its next conference or year-end party too, the portraits and the event photos can be made in the same style.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about business portrait photography

I have collected what is worth knowing before you order a portrait shoot for your company: about the location, the photos, the price and usage.

If your question is not answered here, just write to me and I will be happy to help.

Where are the portraits taken?

Wherever is most convenient for you and the light is right: in your office, in a rented studio or outdoors, for example around an office building.

\n

If we shoot in your office or in the office building where your team works, staff do not need to travel, and the shoot is much easier and quicker to organise.

I usually take 4–5 photos of each person, and the exact number is set in the quote. If you wish, I also share the raw photos with the company, and everyone chooses which of their own photos I should retouch.

\n

They can do this during the shoot or later, from the photos shared internally, for example by marking them in a shared spreadsheet. This way everyone decides which of their portraits will appear, and I retouch the selected photos.

The price depends on how many people need a portrait, where the shoot takes place, and how many finished photos you need. Tell me these, and I will send you a specific quote.

In that case I take the portrait at a follow-up shoot, with the same background and lighting, so it also fits into the existing series. We arrange the date separately.

Whatever you would wear on an important working day: LinkedIn’s own advice is also that your profile photo should show you in clothes you would wear to work.

\n

If a consistent series is being made of the whole team, it is worth agreeing on the style of clothing within the company in advance.

Usually within 3–5 days of receiving the list of photos to retouch, via an online gallery.

\n

So the deadline also depends on when the staff make their selection; we agree on the exact date in advance, so you know when you can plan with the photos.

Yes: under Section 2:48 of the Hungarian Civil Code, taking and using a person’s image requires their consent. It is worth asking staff for this in writing before the shoot.

It is up to you: you can use them on your website, on LinkedIn and other social media, in press materials or on ID badges. There is only one restriction: the photos may not be altered.

Request a quote for business portrait photography

Tell me how many people need a portrait, where you would like the shoot, and what the photos are for. That is usually enough for me to prepare a quote, and we can discuss the details by e-mail or phone.

Requesting a quote does not commit you to anything: the order starts when you accept the quote.
